Dermaplaning in Baltimore, MD

At Maryland Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer dermaplaning for men and women in the Baltimore, Towson, and Columbia areas.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning, also known as epidermal leveling, is a manual form of exfoliation performed by a physician or licensed aesthetician.  Using a sterile blade, the skin is carefully stroked to remove dead surface cells and vellus hair.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a safe, effective modality for skin rejuvenation with little to no downtime.   Physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows skin care products to better penetrate the skin.  The removal of unwanted facial hair is also achieved during the treatment. (Hair does not grow back thicker or darker.)

Frequently, a chemical peel is done immediately following dermaplaning, providing deeper penetration of the peel.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is recommended as a skin rejuvenation modality to treat dry, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and unwanted facial hair.  It’s an excellent choice for patients seeking a non-invasive, affordable treatment.

While dermaplaning is an option for many skin types, mature skin benefits by removing the build up of dead skin cells, as cellular turnover slows down with age.  It can safely be done on patients who are pregnant or lactating.

This may not be for everyone. This treatment is not recommended for those with very oily, acne prone skin, as well as anyone with thick, dark facial hair.

How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?

The cost of dermaplaning can depend on the extent of treatment necessary to achieve the ideal result. During your consultation with a member of our expert team, we will provide an individualized assessment and give you a clear breakdown of costs.

We work with each patient to determine the best personalized treatment plan to achieve natural-looking results.
